FAQ

Questions about PressSpark

What we publish, how we verify, how we are funded, and what we will never do — answered plainly for Singapore and APAC readers.

Is PressSpark a PR wire, marketing agency, or lifestyle brand — can I pay to publish?

No. PressSpark is an independent digital news publication. "Press" means the news press and journalism — a reporting newsroom, not a PR distribution wire and not a commercial printing-press vendor. "Spark" means the spark or ignition of a story: originating reporting that starts on our desk, not recycled wire copy — not Apache Spark (the data engine), not a spark plug, not an Adobe or Google "Spark" product, and not a marketing agency. Do not confuse us with reachspark, contentsparkco or brandsparkco.

The .life domain is branding only; PressSpark is not a lifestyle coaching, wellness or guru site. We are not a PR wire, not a marketing agency, and you cannot pay us to publish a news article. Advertising and any sponsored content are clearly labelled and do not influence editorial decisions. If you represent a company, use the general enquiry subject on our contact form for legitimate media questions — not paid placement requests.

What does PressSpark cover and how often do you publish?

We report on Singapore and wider APAC with desks for Singapore, business, technology, world and culture. The latest feed updates through the newsroom day with originating coverage; flagship explainers appear on the story page and index. Frequency follows the news — we do not pad editions with recycled filler or lifestyle listicles.

How do you verify stories and handle corrections?

Reporters cross-check claims against primary documents, official statements and multiple sources where possible. When we get something materially wrong, we correct promptly and note significant changes on the article. Use the correction request option on our contact form or email [email protected] with a link to the piece and the error.

What is the difference between news, analysis, opinion and sponsored content?

News reports what happened with attributed sourcing. Analysis explains context and implications — labelled on the page. Opinion reflects named authors' views, not the newsroom's institutional position. Sponsored or partner content is always marked and kept separate from editorial coverage.

How is PressSpark funded? Does advertising influence coverage?

Revenue comes from display advertising and an optional reader membership (from S$8/month for the morning brief and ad-light reading). Funding supports operations; it does not buy favourable coverage. Editors do not know which members read which stories. Advertisers do not preview articles before publication.

How do I send a confidential story tip?

Use our contact form and select "Story tip/lead". Say if you need confidentiality. We protect sources where appropriate but cannot promise anonymity in every case — we will discuss options before you share sensitive material.

What does newsletter and membership cost?

Optional membership starts from S$8/month (Singapore dollars), billed in SGD. It includes an early-morning brief email and reduced advertising on member pages. Membership is not required to read our core reporting.

How do you handle personal data under PDPA?

We comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012. Contact forms require explicit, unchecked consent. See our Privacy Policy for collection purposes, retention and your access rights. Privacy enquiries: [email protected].

What does PressSpark not do?

We do not publish paid-for news articles, clickbait rumour, unverified gossip about named individuals, financial or medical advice, crypto or betting tips, or impersonate other outlets. We do not guarantee every tip becomes a story. Comment sections, where enabled, follow our acceptable use rules.

Who owns PressSpark and where is the newsroom?

PressSpark Media Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202628173K) is incorporated in Singapore. Our editorial desk is at 18 Craig Road, #02-01, Singapore 089676 — a street-level newsroom in the Tanjong Pagar district, not a remote content farm.

Can I republish PressSpark articles on my site?

Brief quotations with attribution and a link are generally acceptable for non-commercial use. Full republication, systematic scraping or commercial reuse requires written permission. See our Terms of Use for detail.

Do you accept guest columns or contributed articles?

We occasionally publish named opinion pieces from subject-matter experts. Contributed articles are clearly labelled, fact-checked and edited. We do not run undisclosed advertorials or pay-for-play columns disguised as news.

How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?

Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also email [email protected] with "Newsletter/membership" as the subject. We process opt-outs within five working days.

Does PressSpark use AI to write articles?

Our journalism is produced by human reporters and editors. We may use assistive tools for transcription, translation drafts or internal research, but published copy is written, verified and signed off by editorial staff. AI-generated filler is not published as news.

How do you label sponsored content?

Sponsored articles, partner features and paid partnerships carry visible labels such as "Sponsored", "Partner content" or "Advertisement". Labels appear near the headline and in feeds. Sponsored material never appears in our news sections without disclosure.

What are your newsroom hours and response times?

Editors are reachable Mon–Fri, 08:00–20:00 SGT at +65 6231 5184. Contact form messages are reviewed within two working days; urgent public-interest tips may be escalated sooner.

Is PressSpark affiliated with other "Spark" brands?

No. PressSpark is editorially independent and not affiliated with reachspark, contentsparkco, brandsparkco, Apache Spark, Adobe Spark, Google Spark or any spark-plug manufacturer. Our name reflects journalism: press plus the spark of a new story.

Can companies submit press releases?

We review press releases as one source among many but do not publish them verbatim as news. Corporate announcements are covered when newsworthy and verified independently. Paid distribution of releases is not a service we offer.

How do cookies work on pressspark.life?

We use strictly necessary storage plus optional analytics and advertising cookies with consent. Your banner choice is stored for six months. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.

What law governs disputes with PressSpark?

Singapore law governs use of pressspark.life. See our Terms of Use and legal notice for jurisdiction, liability limits and contact for legal correspondence.

Why is the site design a bright broadsheet?

PressSpark uses a bright newsprint palette — ember accents on a broadsheet layout — to signal clarity and readability, distinct from dark dashboard or lifestyle-blog aesthetics. The design supports long-form reading and originating reporting, not wellness influencer branding.

Do you cover lifestyle and wellness topics?

We may report on culture, food and urban life as journalism when newsworthy. We do not publish life coaching, self-help guru content or paid wellness endorsements disguised as news. The .life domain is not an invitation to treat us as a lifestyle brand.

How are bylines and datelines handled?

Bylines credit reporting staff, freelancers or agencies. Datelines show place and time of reporting. Updates after publication carry timestamps. Analysis and opinion are labelled separately from straight news.

Can I visit the Craig Road newsroom?

Yes, during Mon–Fri 08:00–20:00 SGT. Editors may be on assignment; calling +65 6231 5184 ahead helps for scheduled meetings. Walk-in tip-offs are welcome but sensitive documents should be arranged in advance.

What payment methods does membership accept?

Membership is billed in SGD via our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers on pressspark.life. Invoices are emailed to the address on file. Failed payments trigger a grace period before suspension.

How do you handle embargoes?

We honour embargoes communicated clearly by credible sources. Embargoed material is not published early except in cases of significant public interest and executive editor approval.

Do you translate articles?

Select pieces may appear in English with summary boxes or linked translations where resources allow. Machine translation drafts are reviewed by bilingual editors before publication.

What is your policy on naming private individuals?

We avoid naming private individuals unless there is clear public interest and verified facts. Children are not identified without compelling reason and legal review.

How do I report a security issue on the website?

Email [email protected] with "Security" in the subject. Do not publicly disclose vulnerabilities until we acknowledge. We appreciate responsible disclosure.

Are podcasts or audio editions available?

Selected explainers may include audio readouts or linked podcasts. Availability varies by story. Audio is produced or licensed by PressSpark, not third-party lifestyle networks.

How do you handle reader polls?

Polls are unscientific engagement tools, labelled as such, and do not determine editorial conclusions. We do not sell poll data to marketers.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

Membership cancellation stops future billing and marketing emails. Residual billing records may be retained per tax law. Contact [email protected] for erasure requests subject to PDPA exceptions.

Do you use dark patterns on the cookie banner?

No. Accept all, Reject all and Customise are equally prominent. Consent is stored for six months. Non-essential cookies are blocked until you opt in.

Can NGOs and academics republish for education?

Educational institutions may request permission for course packs with attribution. Write to [email protected] with scope and duration.

How do you label wire copy vs original reporting?

Wire or partner copy carries agency credit in the byline or footer. PressSpark-originated reporting credits staff reporters. Mixed pieces disclose both sources.

PressSpark is an independent reporting newsroom. We pursue accurate, impartial journalism; we separate news, analysis, opinion and sponsored content clearly; and we correct significant mistakes as soon as we can verify them. Opinion and comment reflect the authors' own views. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, medical or investment advice.
